My favorite jobs are those where I can blend the beauty and organic form of a piece with complicated joinery. As an artist, I follow form and feeling and as an engineering smith I am drawn to function and balance. The great majority of my work is functional. I want people to connect with the piece, to touch it and to use it. Though all of my work is held together tightly while in use, many pieces are like puzzles and can be taken apart. I enjoy making items that tempt people to play with them. Concentrating on the beauty of each segment of a piece, my goal is to create a finished item that will be as pleasing to run your fingers over as it is to look at.
