Blending the practice of art and craft

For most of my life I have been fascinated by joinery. As a blacksmith I have been able to explore and experiment with forging joints inspired by traditional blacksmith joinery, woodworking joinery, Japanese joinery, timber frame joinery and industrial joinery. For most of my life I have also been fascinated by the human form. I love to draw people. As a blacksmith, just recently, I have been able to explore the possibilities of forging the human form, shoulders, feet, legs, adductors, quads, bones, hands, heads. Nothing is more exciting to me then the idea of blending these two things. Forged joinery and human form were just meant to come together, don’t you think?
